Our tradie this month is Ross Barry, a plumber and Type A Gasfitter on our RentSafe Safety Check and Warranty teams with a big heart. Read below as Ross shares his experiences as a plumber, and why he's set on raising as much money as he can on a charity drive for Camp Quality later this month.
How long have you been in your trade for?
36 years.
When did you join Taskforce?
Not sure but could be around 8 years.
What do you like best about being part of Taskforce?
Work flow, flexibility and invoices get done for me.
Tell us about your most memorable / funniest call out.
Sending a friend an invoice that had annoying husband fee on it. We all had a good laugh.
What is your top tip for someone just starting out in a trade.
Try and skill yourself up as much as possible. Plumbing is a trade that has a wide and large variety of jobs. In plumbing you can be doing something different every day. Breaks up the boredom and don't get tired of doing the same thing day in and day out.
What’s your favourite coffee spot in your hood?
Don't really do coffee shops but I find it hard to walk past a motorbike shop.
What’s your current favourite tune on your playlist?
Such a wide range but basically anything with a good tune/beat and good voices. No fake computer stuff.
Why are you doing the Camp Quality EsCarpade fundraiser and what do you think the challenges will be?
An opportunity arose to participate in Camp Quality's EsCarpade so I am grateful that I can put a bit of life back into a day or two of a kid's life whilst they are dealing with cancer.
The money raised goes to the families and organised events for the children. Gives the kids a day out to enjoy life with their parents. So I'm just happy to be helping to raise money knowing that it's much appreciated and needed.
